EXPLANATORY NOTES This Bill would amend the Crop Insurance Act to clarify that advances for working capital may be made to the Newfoundland and Labrador Crop Insurance Agency in each financial year and to clarify the timing of the appeal mechanism provided for in that Act. The Bill would amend the Livestock Insurance Act to clarify that advances for working capital may be made to the Livestock Owners Compensation Board in each financial year. |

S.13 Amdt. Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows: CROP INSURANCE ACT RSNL1990 cC-39 as amended 1. Subsection 10.1(1) of the Crop Insurance Act is repealed and the following substituted: Appeals 10.1 (1) An insured person may file an appeal in respect of (a) an act of the agency, its officers or agents, within 14 days of the disputed act; and (b) a finding, order or decision of the agency, its officers or agents, within 14 days of receiving notice of the finding, order or decision. 2. Subsection 12(2) of the Act is repealed and the following substituted: (2) The Minister of Finance, with the approval of
the Lieutenant-Governor in Council and on the written requisition of the
minister, may advance to the agency for use as working capital those sums that
may be stated in the requisition, but the total advances made in each financial
year under this subsection shall not exceed $100,000. LIVESTOCK INSURANCE ACT RSNL1990 cL-23 3. Subsection 13(2) of the Livestock Insurance Act is repealed and the following substituted: (2) The Minister of Finance, with the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council and on the written request of the minister, may advance to the board for use as working capital those sums that may be stated in the requisition, but the total advances made in each financial year under this subsection shall not exceed $50,000. ©William E.
