EXPLANATORY NOTE This Bill would amend the Health Research Ethics Authority Act to clarify that in the event of a conflict between that Act and the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement Act the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement Act will prevail. |
A BILL AN ACT TO AMEND THE HEALTH RESEARCH ETHICS AUTHORITY ACT Analysis 1.
S.2.1 Added 2. Commencement Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows: SNL2006 cH-1.2 1. The Health Research Ethics Authority Act is amended by adding immediately after section 2 the following: Labrador Inuit rights 2.1 This Act and regulations made under this Act shall be read and applied in conjunction with the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement Act and, where a provision of this Act or regulations made under this Act is inconsistent or conflicts with a provision, term or condition of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement Act, the provision, term or condition of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement Act shall have precedence over the provision of this Act or a regulation made under this Act. Commencement 2. This Act comes into force on the day the Health Research Ethics Authority Act comes into force. ©William E. Parsons, Queen's Printer |
