Licensing and Equipment Regulations (Amendment)
under the
Highway Traffic Act

Under the authority of section 195 of the Highway Traffic Act, I make the following regulations.

        1. Subsection 21(3) of the Licensing and Equipment Regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

             (3)  Notwithstanding subsection (2),

             (a)  a police vehicle;

             (b)  a vehicle owned by the federal government and operated by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans while engaged in the enforcement of the Fisheries Act and regulations under that Act;

             (c)  a vehicle owned by the provincial government and a vehicle owned by the federal government and operated by Parks Canada, while engaged in enforcement of the Highway Traffic Act and the regulations under that Act;

             (d)  a vehicle owned by the federal government and operated by the Department of Environment Canada while engaged in enforcement of the Migratory Birds Convention Act and regulations under that Act; and

             (e)  a vehicle owned by the St. John's Port Corporation and operated by the Enforcement Division of that Corporation while engaged in enforcement of the Corporation By-laws and Traffic Regulations,

may be equipped with flashing or revolving lamps capable of emitting a blue or red light and mounted on the roof or cabin of the vehicle.
