Dental Auxiliaries' Regulations, 2012 (Amendment)
under the
Dental Act, 2008

Under the authority of section 12 of the Dental Act, 2008, with the approval of the Minister of Health and Community Services, the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Board makes the following regulations.

1. (1) Paragraph 2(b) of the Dental Auxiliaries' Regulations, 2012 is repealed and the following substituted:

(b) "dental auxiliary" means a registered dental assistant or a registered dental technician;

(2) Paragraph 2(e) of the regulations is repealed.

2. Section 6 of the regulations is repealed.

3. Section 9 of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

Annual remittance

9. Every registered dental assistant and registered dental technician whose licence under the Act and these regulations is subsisting shall annually, before the date as may be determined by the board, remit to the board those fees that may be prescribed, for the purpose of maintaining a licence to practice in the province for the year then commencing.

4. Section 11 of the regulations is repealed.

5. Section 14 of the regulations is repealed.

6. Subsection 16(2) of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

(2) A person who has elected non-practising status may apply to be reinstated to practising status and, on complying with the requirements of section 10 or 12 as applicable, shall be reinstated to practising status.

Transition

7. (1) The registration and licence of a registered dental hygienist with a practising status or a non-practising status under the Act and these regulations expires on the day that the Dental Hygienists Regulations under the Health Professions Act come into force.

(2) The registration of a dental hygiene student under the Act and these regulations expires on the day that the Dental Hygienists Regulations under the Health Professions Act come into force.

Commencement

8. These regulations come into force on the day that the Dental Hygienists Regulations under the Health Professions Act come into force.
