Student Financial Assistance Regulations (Amendment)
under the
Student Financial Assistance Act, 2019

Under the authority of section 15 of the Student Financial Assistance Act, 2019, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following regulations.

        1. (1) Paragraph 5.2(2.1)(b) of the Student Financial Assistance Regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

             (b)  first month after payment free status under subsections (6), (10) or (13) ended.

             (2)  Section 5.2 of the regulations is amended by adding immediately after subsection (12) the following:

          (13)  Where a borrower under a consolidated loan agreement is granted a period of postponement of repayment by reason of medical leave or parental leave under section 7.1 of the Canada Student Financial Assistance Regulations, the borrower's provincial student loan shall have payment free status during that period of postponement of repayment. 

Commencement

        2. These regulations are considered to have come into force on October 1, 2020.
