Licensing and Equipment Regulations (Amendment)
under the
Highway Traffic Act
(O.C.2021-276)

Under the authority of subsection 195(5) of the Highway Traffic Act, the Minister of Digital Government and Service Newfoundland and Labrador, with the approval of the Lieutenant-Governor in Council, makes the following regulations.

        1. Section 29 of the Licensing and Equipment Regulations is amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following:

             (3)  A person who contravenes subsection (2) is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction

             (a)  for a first offence, to a fine of not less than $250 and not more than $1000 and in default of payment of the fine, to imprisonment for a period of not less than 3 days and not more than 6 days; and

             (b)  for a subsequent offence, to a fine of not less than $500 and not more than $1000 and in default of payment of the fine, to imprisonment for a period of not less than 3 days and not more than 6 days.
