Fur Bearing Animals and Coyote Trapping and Shooting Order, Newfoundland and Labrador (Amendment)
under the
Wild Life Regulations
and the
Wild Life Act

Under the authority of sections 25, 27, 88 and 114 of the Wild Life Regulations and the Wild Life Act, I make the following Order.

        1. The Fur Bearing Animals and Coyote Trapping and Shooting Order, Newfoundland and Labrador is amended by adding immediately after section 9 the following:

Prohibition

      9.1 Notwithstanding anything contained in the Wild Life Regulations, a person shall not use a centre-fire rifle referred to in paragraph 14(4)(b) of the Wild Life Regulation to take or kill fox, coyote, wolf or lynx on the Island of Newfoundland during any part of the open season within the period September 1 to December 31, inclusive, each year.

 

        2. Paragraphs (g) and (h) of Schedule A of the Order are repealed and the following substituted:

             (g)  Lynx Zone A: Western Region

All that area of the Island of Newfoundland bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of the Burgeo highway with the southern coastline of Newfoundland;

Then following said coastline in a generally westerly direction to Cape Ray;

Then following the coastline in a generally northwesterly, then northeasterly direction to Cape Onion;

Then following the coastline in a generally southwesterly direction to the confluence of Hampden River with White Bay;

Then following the northeastern coastline of Newfoundland in a generally northeasterly, then easterly, then southeasterly direction to Adeytown;

Then following a straight line in a generally southwesterly direction to a point at 48° 2’ 40” north latitude and 54° 57’ 18” west longitude;

Then following a straight line in a generally southeasterly direction to the northernmost point of Long Harbour;

Then following the western shoreline of Long Harbour in a generally southwesterly direction to its intersection with the Newfoundland coastline;

Then following said coastline in a generally westerly direction to the point of commencement, including all offshore islands except Belle Isle, Brunette Island, Bird Island, and Duck Island.

             (h)  Lynx Zone B: Eastern Region

All that area of Newfoundland beginning at the northernmost point of Long Harbour;

Then following a straight line in a generally northerly direction to a point 48° 2’ 40” north latitude and 54° 57’ 18” west longitude;

Then following a straight line in a generally easterly direction to Adeytown and its eastern most intersection with the coastline of insular Newfoundland at Northwest Arm;

Then following the coastline of Northwest Arm in a generally easterly direction to West Random Head;

Then following the coastline of insular Newfoundland in a generally southerly then westerly direction to the Black Brook;

Then following the coastline of the Avalon Peninsula to Come by Chance Gut;

Then following the coastline of insular Newfoundland in a generally westerly direction to Pipers Hole River;

Then following the coastline of the Burin Peninsula in a generally southerly then westerly direction to Point Crewe;

Then following the coastline of the Burin Peninsula in a generally northerly direction to Dantzic Point;

Then following the coastline of the Burin Peninsula in a generally northeasterly direction to Long Point;

Then following the coastline of insular Newfoundland in a generally westerly direction to Friar Head;

Then following the coastline to the point of commencement, including all offshore islands.

 

        3. Schedule C of the Order is repealed and the following substituted:
