Newfoundland and Labrador NEWFOUNDLAND Authorization to Prescribe Regulations (Amendment) (Filed April 4, 2023) Under the authority of section 59 of the Pharmacy Act, 2012, the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board, with the approval of the Minister of Health and Community Services, makes the following regulations. S.11.1 Added 6. Sch. A R&S NLR 73/15 1. (1) Subparagraph 2(e)(iii) of the Authorization to Prescribe Regulations is repealed and the following substituted: (iii) by an electronic means; (2) Section 2 of the regulations is amended by adding immediately after paragraph (e.1) the following: (e.2) "regional medical officer of health" means a person appointed under section 11 of the Public Health Protection and Promotion Act; 2. Paragraph 3(c) of the regulations is amended by deleting the word "and" at the end of subparagraph (vii), deleting the period at the end of subparagraph (viii) and substituting a comma and adding immediately after that subparagraph the following: (ix) prescribing hormonal contraceptives, and (x) prescribing post-exposure prophylaxis. 3. Section 7 of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted: Extending prescription 7. (1) A pharmacist
authorized under section 4 may extend a prescription one or more times. (2) Notwithstanding
subsection (1), where a pharmacist extends a prescription under this section,
the pharmacist shall not (a) extend
a prescription beyond 12 months after the date that the prescription was first
extended; or (b) prescribe, at any one time, more than a 90 days' supply. 4. Paragraph 11(d) of the regulation is repealed and the following substituted: (d) that prescribing
falls into a category referred to in subparagraph 3(c)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv),
(ix) or (x). 5. The regulations are amended by adding immediately after section 11 the following: Prescribing post-exposure prophylaxis 11.1 A pharmacist authorized under section 4 shall not prescribe post-exposure prophylaxis without a referral from a regional medical officer of health or a designate of a regional medical officer of health. 6.
