Highway Traffic Driver Regulations, 1999 (Amendment)
under the
Highway Traffic Act

Under the authority of section 186 of the Highway Traffic Act, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following regulations.

as amended

        1. Section 3 of the Highway Traffic Driver Regulations, 1999 is amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following:

         (2.1)  The registrar shall not issue a class 1 driver's licence to a person unless that person

             (a)  has successfully completed an approved driver education program for class 1 drivers; and

             (b)  has provided proof, acceptable to the registrar, that the person has successfully completed a program required under paragraph (a).

 

        2. Paragraph 23(3)(a) of the regulations is amended by deleting the word "polices" and substituting the word "policies".          

        3. Paragraph 26(a) of the regulations is amended by deleting the reference "paragraph 23(2)(c)" and substituting the reference "subsection 23(2)".

Commencement

        4. These regulations come into force on January 3, 2024.
