Statutes of Newfoundland 1994 CHAPTER 42 AN ACT TO AMEND THE FAMILY LAW ACT, THE RECIPROCAL ENFORCEMENT OF SUPPORT (Assented to December 16, 1994) Analysis FAMILY LAW ACT 1. S.39 Amdt. RECIPROCAL ENFORCEMENT OF SUPPORT ORDERS ACT 2. S.11.1 Added SUPPORT ORDERS ENFORCEMENT ACT 3. S.6 Amdt. Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows: FAMILY LAW ACT RSN 1990 cF-2 1. Section 39 of the Family Law Act is amended by adding immediately after subsection (4) the following: (4.1) An official of the Department of Social Services may appear in Provincial Court in respect of a support application, either on behalf of the Minister of Social Services, or as agent for a person making a support application where the Department of Social Services is providing a benefit under the Social Assistance Act in respect of the support of that person. RECIPROCAL ENFORCEMENT OF SUPPORT ORDERS ACT RSN 1990 cR-5 2. The Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Orders Act is amended by adding immediately after section 11 the following: Official to appear in court 11.1 An official of the Department of Social Services may appear in Provincial Court on behalf of the province or as agent for a claimant making an application for support where that claimant is a person in receipt of benefits under the Social Assistance Act. SUPPORT ORDERS ENFORCEMENT ACT RSN 1990 cS-31 3. Section 6 of the Support Orders Enforcement Act is amended by adding immediately after subsection (1) the following: (1.1) An official of the Department of Social Services may appear in Provincial Court on behalf of the minister or as agent for a person making a support application where that person is in receipt of benefits under the Social Assistance Act. ©Earl G.
