AN ACT TO AMEND THE ST. JOHN'S MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS ACT

(Assented to December 19, 1996)

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:


RSN1990 cS-5 as amended

1. (1) Subsection 7(1) of the St. John's Municipal Elections Act is repealed and the following substituted:

7. (1) A general election shall be held in 1997 and every 4 years after 1997.

(2) Subsection 7(2) of the Act is amended by striking out the date "December 1" and substituting the words "the second Tuesday in October".

2. (1) Subsection 8(1) of the Act is amended by striking out the phrase "2nd Tuesday of November" and substituting the phrase "last Tuesday of September".

(2) Subsection 8(2) of the Act is repealed.
