AN ACT TO AMEND THE LEGAL AID ACT

 (Assented to March 12, 2018)

Solicitor may be appointed

        2.   Transitional

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

as amended

        1. Subsections 31(3.1), (3.2) and (3.3) of the Legal Aid Act are repealed.

Transitional

        2. Nothing in this Act affects a certificate that

             (a)  was issued by the commission to an applicant for professional services to be rendered by a solicitor in private practice in accordance with subsection 31(3.1) of the Legal Aid Act before the coming into force of this Act; and

             (b)  is completed and signed by the solicitor in private practice and returned to the commission in accordance with section 29 of the Legal Aid Regulations.
