Under the authority of section 3 of the Municipalities Act, 1999,
the Lieutenant Governor in Council makes the following Order.

ORDER
Analysis
Short title
1.
This Order may be cited as the Town of
Burin Order
, 2001.

Boundaries
2.
The communities, settlements and lands situated within the boundaries set out in the Schedule are amalgamated, annexed and established to be the Town of
Burin
.

Assets and liabilities assumed
3.
All assets and liabilities of the Town of
Port
au Bras shall be assumed by the Town of
Burin
as established in this Order.

Election deferred
4.
The General Elections scheduled for
September 25, 2001
for the Town of
Burin
as established by Consolidated Newfoundland Regulation 95/96 and the Town of
Port
au Bras as established by Consolidated Newfoundland Regulation 345/96 are deferred.

General election
5.
(1) Notwithstanding section 4, the General Election for the Town of
Burin
as established in this Order shall take place on
September 25, 2001
.
(2)
A council elected under subsection (1)
(a)
shall
consist of 7 persons
(i)
6 councillors elected at large, and
(ii)
a
mayor to be elected in a separate mayoralty election; and
(b)
shall
have control and management of the Town of
Burin
under the Municipalities Act, 1999.
(3)
The election of the council under subsection (1) shall have effect upon the coming into force of this Order.

Repeal
6.
The
Town of Burin Order
, Consolidated Newfoundland Regulation 95/96 and the Town of Port au Bras Order
, Consolidated
Newfoundland
Regulation 345/96 are repealed.

Effective date
7.
This Order shall come into force on
January 1, 2002

Schedule
Beginning at a point on the high water mark of Burin Inlet, that point being the mouth of a small brook having NAD 83 MTM co-ordinates north 5,217,501.2 metres and east 364,966.2 metres;
Then north 31

west 1,150 metres, more or less, to a point;
Then north 50
°
west 1,550 metres, more or less, to a point;
Then north 88
°
east 4,400 metres, more or less, to a point;
Then south 31
°
40' east 5,493 metres, more or less, to a point;
Then south 76
°
3' east 2,000 metres, more or less, to a point at the mouth of a small brook on the high water mark of the northwestern extremity of Western Head, that point having NAD 83 MTM co-ordinates north 5,214,479.1 metres and east 372,411 metres;
Then following the sinuosities of the shoreline passing Western Head, Port au Bras, Little Burin Harbour, Neck Point, Longcove Point, to a point at the mouth of the river flowing from Salt Pond;
Then crossing the mouth of that river and continuing along the shoreline to the point of beginning.
All bearings refer to grid north and as with distances given are subject to approximation as delineated on the 1:2500 mapping.
