Under the authority of section 3 of the Municipalities Act, 1999 , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Town of Carbonear Order , 2007.

        2. The boundaries of the Town of Carbonear are as set out in the Schedule.

Repeal

        3. The Town of Carbonear Order , Consolidated Newfoundland and Labrador Regulation 121/96, is repealed.

Commencement

        4. This Order shall come into force on June 1, 2007 .

Schedule

Beginning at the point forming the headland between Carbonear and Bristol 's Hope and known as the Bachelor at Feather Point;

Then running south 85° 30' west a distance of 270 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being geodetic station No. 93100 and spot elevation 16.5 metres;

Then running south 64° west a distance of 2,545 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being geodetic station No. 93110 and spot elevation 152.7 metres;

Then running south 55° 30' west a distance of 1,185 metres, more or less, to the intersection of the western limits of the new Conception Bay Highway and the river running from Bull Pond;

Then running along the western limits of the Conception Bay Highway in a northwesterly direction to a point, that point being north 12° 00' west and 460 metres, more or less, from the last given point;

Then running north 84° 00' west a distance of 3,010 metres, more or less;

Then running north 24° 30' west a distance of 610 metres, more or less, to a point 67.5 metres north of the centre line of Gunners Pond Road;

Then in a southwesterly direction along a line parallel to and 67.5 metres from the centre line of Gunners Pond Road a distance of 218 metres, more or less;

Then continuing in a southwesterly direction along a line parallel to and 67.5 metres from the centre line of a trail branching off Gunners Pond Road, a distance of 435 metres, more or less;

Then north 29° 00 west crossing Island Pond Brook and London Road, to a point 67.5 metres north of the centre line of London Road;

Then in a northeasterly direction along a line parallel to and 67.5 metres from the centre line of London Road to a point on the centre line of the old Bay de Verde railway reservation;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the centre line of the old Bay de Verde railway reservation a distance of 613 metres, more or less to the intersection with Kellys Road;

Then running north 57° 30' east a distance of 2,500 metres, more or less;

Then running north 76° 30' east a distance of 1,130 metres, more or less, to the highroad extending from Carbonear to Heart's Content;

Then running north 84° 30' east a distance of 730 metres, more or less;

Then running north 89° 30' east a distance of 1,600 metres, more or less, to the highwater mark on the shoreline of Conception Bay, and due east of an unnamed island;

Then continuing along the shore at the highwater mark in an easterly direction to the easternmost point of the headland between the waters of Crocker's Cove and Carbonear, continuing along the shores of Carbonear at the highwater mark in a general westerly, southerly and easterly direction, to the point of beginning.

All bearings being referred to Grid North, central meridian 53° west longitude, and as with distances given are subject to approximation as delineated on the 1:12,000 mapping, 1971 edition, the 1:2500 mapping, 1984 edition, and the 1;50000 National Topographic (Digital) Mapping.
