Schedule B
The area known as Lawn Bay Ecological Reserve is established as an ecological reserve primarily to protect the internationally significant seabird breeding colony of the Manx Shearwater (Puffinus puffinus
) and its habitat. In addition to Manx Shearwater, the Reserve also protects breeding habitat for eight other seabird species. Scientific research at the site will be encouraged and educational use and commercial and non-commercial use may be permitted where it does not conflict with the general objective of site protection and scientific research.
To limit disturbances to seabirds during the breeding season and minimize habitat erosion year-round, access to Middle
Lawn
Island
is by special permit only. Restrictions on access to the Swale and Colombier
Islands
and the surrounding marine zone shall be in place throughout the breeding season.
The managing agency for the reserve is Parks and Natural Areas Division of the Department of Environment and Conservation.
