Town of Avondale Order
under the
Municipalities Act
(O.C. 96-170)

Under the authority of section 3 of the Municipalities Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Town of Avondale Order .

        2. The boundaries of the Town of Avondale are as set out in the Schedule.

Repeal

        3. Newfoundland Regulation 675/78 is repealed.

Schedule

Beginning at a point of highest elevation of the Blue Hills and then running south 46° 30' west a distance of 3,775 metres, more or less, to the centre point of the eastern abutment of the overpass located to the southeast of Gushues Pond;

Then running in a generally southeasterly direction along the eastern road reservation of the Trans Canada Highway to a point due south of the southern end of Nord Pond;

Then running due north 150 metres to the southern end of Nord Pond;

Then running in a generally northeasterly direction along the western shoreline of Nord Pond to a point being the most northeastern point of the pond;

Then running north 19° east a distance of 3,030 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being the most southwestern point of Lees Pond;

Then running in a generally northerly direction along the eastern shoreline of Lees Pond to the northern end of the pond;

Then running north 24° east a distance of 1,950 metres, more or less, to a point on the southern sideline of the Conception Bay Highway;

Then due north 30 metres to a point, that point being the intersection of the northern sideline of the Conception Bay Highway and the western sideline of Cemetery Road;

Then running northeastward along the western sideline of Cemetery Road a distance of 920 metres, more or less, to a point;

Then running north 36° west a distance of 450 metres, more or less, to a coastal point in Gasters Bay;

Then running in a generally southwesterly direction along the sinuosities of the eastern and southern shorelines of Avondale Harbour to a point in the centre of the north face of the Concrete Bridge spanning the mouth of the Salmon River;

Then running in a generally northerly direction along the sinuosities of the western shoreline of Avondale Harbour to Ballyhack Point;

Then running in a generally southwesterly direction along the sinuosities of the eastern shoreline of Middle Arm to a point in the southwest angle of Middle Arm;

Then south 44° 30' west a distance of 3,500 metres, more or less, to the point of beginning.

All bearings refer to grid north and as with distances given are subject to approximation as delineated on the 1:2500 and 1:5000 Newfoundland and Labrador Forest Resources and Lands Mapping, 1982 editions.
