Town of Logy Bay - Middle Cove - Outer Cove Order
under the
Municipalities Act
(O.C. 96-170)

Under the authority of section 3 of the Municipalities Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Order.

        1. This Order may be cited as the Town of Logy Bay - Middle Cove - Outer Cove Order .

Schedule

Beginning at the coastal tip of Torbay Point and then following the Atlantic sinuosities of Torbay running generally westwardly along the high shoreline via Outer Cove and Middle Cove to the mouth of North Pond Brook;

Then running southwestwardly along North Pond Brook to and then southeastwardly along a line parallel to and 50 metres northeastward from the centre line of Marine Drive to and then southwestwardly along a stream from Jones Pond;

Then following the northern shoreline of Jones Pond to and then southwestwardly along a stream to the eastern sideline of Torbay Road ;

Then running southward along the eastern sideline of Torbay Road to and then eastward along the southern sideline of a road to a point bearing north 30° west from a point at co-ordinates north 5 277 870 metres and east 325 528 metres on the 3° modified T.M. grid;

Then running south 30° 00' east to the point at co-ordinates north 5 277 870 metres and east 325 528 metres and running southward along a line parallel to and 140 metres from the centre line of Torbay Road to a pole at co-ordinates north 5 277 497 metres and east 325 562 metres, that pole bearing south 5° 00' east 375 metres from last point;

Then running eastward along a power transmission line to a pole at co-ordinates north 5 277 502 metres and east 325 797 metres and southeastward via power line to a point on the southern bank of Outer Cove Brook, that point having co-ordinates north 5 276 203.5 metres and east 326 558 metres;

Then following the boundary of the agriculture development area of the St. John's Urban Region (Agriculture) Order, 1978, published in the Gazette on July 28, 1978, northeastward along the southern bank of Outer Cove Brook to a point at co-ordinates north 5 276 302 metres and east 326 687 metres, that point bearing north 53° 00' east 162 metres, more or less, from the last given point, and south 46° 30' east 726 metres, more or less, to a point at co-ordinates north 5 275 802 metres and east 327 214 metres, and south 37° 55' east 132 metres, more or less, to a point at co-ordinates north 5 275 698 metres and east 327 295 metres, and south 59° 02' west 35 metres, more or less, to a point at co-ordinates north 5 275 680 metres and east 327 265 metres, and south 35° 23' east 178 metres, more or less, to a point at co-ordinates north 5 275 535 metres and east 327 368 metres, and south 68° 19' west 95 metres, more or less, to a point at co-ordinates north 5 275 500 metres and east 327 280 metres, and south 21° 35' east 381 metres, more or less, to a point at the southern side of Snow's Lane, that point having co?ordinates north 5 275 146 metres and east 327 420 metres;

Then running southeastward via fence line between lands now or formerly owned by Redfern and Dyer to a point at co-ordinates north 5 275 054 metres and east 327 537 metres, that point bearing south 52° east 148 metres, more or less, from the last given point;

Then following the northeastern sideline of a Newfoundland Light and Power transmission line right-of-way to a point at co-ordinates north 5 274 765 metres and east 328 078.5 metres, that point bearing south 61° 45' east 613 metres, more or less, from the last given point, and proceeding along the line south 52° 55' east 54.7 metres to a point on the western sideline of Logy Bay Road, that point having co-ordinates north 5 274 732 metres and east 328 122 metres;

Then running southward along the western sideline of Logy Bay Road to a point at co-ordinates north 5 274 628.5 metres and east 328 148.5 metres, that point bearing north 2° west 20.5 metres, more or less, from a point on the centre line of the surveyed route of the proposed outer ring road at (Crown Lands) control monument No. 029045;

Then following the northern sideline of the proposed ring road (40 metres wide) running south 72° 45' east 32 metres, more or less;

Then along a line of demarcation with land now or formerly of H. Noseworthy running north 86° east 80 metres, more or less, to a corner point;

Then following the arc of a curve parallel to and 50 metres from the centre line of the proposed outer ring road to a point bearing south 65° 30' east 68 metres from the last given point;

Then traversing a ridge to the summit of a mountain traditionally known as "Lars Hill" running north 28° 00' east 19.5 metres, more or less, to spot elevation 97.5 metres at co?ordinates north 5 274 614.5 metres and east 328 329.5 metres, and north 49° 45' east 202 metres, more or less, to spot elevation 103.2 metres at co-ordinates north 5 274 744.5 metres and east 328 484 metres, and north 37° 00' east 197 metres, more or less, to a hydro pole at co-ordinates north 5 274 902 metres and east 328 603 metres, and north 30° 00' east 45 metres, more or less, to a point at co-ordinates north 5 274 942 metres and east 328 625 metres, and south 86° 00' east 305 metres, more or less, to the corner point in a fence line at co-ordinates north 5 274 919 metres and east 328 930 metres, and north 48° 30' east 217 metres, more or less, to the summit of Lars Hill, spot elevation 171.3 metres at co-ordinates north 5 275 062 metres and east 329 042.5 metres;

Then running north 50° 00' east 437.5 metres, more or less, to spot elevation 104.9 metres at co-ordinates north 5 275 342.5 metres and east 329 429 metres;

Then running south 83° 30' east 510 metres, more or less, through a point, spot elevation 95.3 metres to a point on a survey cut line, that point having co-ordinates north 5 275 285.5 metres and east 329 935.5 metres;

Then along a line of demarcation with property of Memorial University of Newfoundland running south 25° 30' east via the cut line 775 metres, more or less, to a point on the coastline of Robin Hood Bay;

Then following the Atlantic coastline generally northwardly along the high shoreline via Sugarloaf Head, Logy Bay , Scuplins Point and Redcliff Head to Torbay Point, the point of beginning.

All bearings herein refer to grid north, central meridian 53° west longitude, and as with distances and/or co-ordinates given are subject to approximation as delineated on the 1:12,500, 1:1250 and 1:2500 Crown Lands and Surveys Division Mapping, 1973/78 editions.
