ORDER
Analysis
Short title
1.
This Order may be cited as the Black Bear Hunting and Trapping Order, Newfoundland and Labrador

Devices permitted
2.
(1) Only Aldrich foot snares or similar foot holding devices may be set for the taking of black bears and those devices shall be set in a covered "cubby set" and clearly marked with a warning sign indicating that a bear trapping device is set in the "cubby".
(2)
A person who sets a device referred to in subsection (1) shall check it daily.

Prohibited devices
3.
Steel-jaw leghold, spring or jump traps or neck snares shall not be used to take black bears.

Special licence
4.
Persons who have resided in the electoral district of Torngat Mountains for a period of 6 consecutive months immediately before applying for a licence may be issued a licence identified as a special licence free of charge.

Bag limit
5.
(1) The bag limit shall be 2 black bear of any age or sex per licence.
(2)
Notwithstanding subsection (1), female black bears accompanied by cubs shall not be taken by shooting.

Repeal
6.
The Black Bear Hunting and Snaring Order, Newfoundland and Labrador,
Newfoundland and Labrador Regulation 68/18, is repealed.
