EXPLANATORY NOTES This Bill would amend the Court Security Act, 2010 to · expand the definition of court area to include a building, part of a building, land or space used by an inquiry; and · replace all references to "Trial Division" with "Supreme Court". S.12 Amdt. Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows: SNL2010 cC-37.02 1. (1) Paragraph 2(a) of the Court Security Act, 2010 is repealed and the following substituted: (a) "court" means the Court of Appeal, the
Supreme Court and the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and (2) Paragraph 2(b) of the Act is repealed and the following substituted: (b) "court area" means a building, part of a building, land or space used by a court or inquiry and designated as a court area by regulation; (3) Section 2 of the Act is amended by adding immediately after paragraph (c) the following: (c.1) "inquiry" means a commission of inquiry established under Part I of the Public Inquiries Act, 2006 or an inquiry conducted under Part II of the Public Inquiries Act, 2006; 2. Section 12 of the Act is amended by deleting the words "Trial Division" and substituting the words "Supreme Court". ©Queen's Printer |
