Boundaries of School Districts Order
under the
Schools Act
(O.C. 96‑719)

Under the authority of subsection 4(1) of the Schools Act, the Lieutenant‑Governor in Council makes the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Boundaries of School Districts Order.

Districts

        2. The province is divided into the following school districts:

District # 1 ‑ LABRADOR

                   Labrador district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Norman Bay, exclusive, and extending in a southerly direction to Charlottetown, Labrador, exclusive, and then to Port Hope Simpson, exclusive, and then to L'Anse au Clair, exclusive, and then in a westerly and northerly direction along the Quebec border, and then in a southerly direction around the coast to the point of commencement.


District #2 ‑ NORTHERN PENINSULA/LABRADOR SOUTH

                   Northern Peninsula/Labrador South district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Norman Bay, inclusive, and extending in a southerly direction around the coast to Chateau Bay, and then across the Strait of Belle Isle to Big Brook, and then in an easterly direction around the coast of the Northern Peninsula to Harbour Deep, exclusive, and then in a straight line in a westerly direction to River of Ponds, inclusive, and then in a northerly direction around the coast to Pond Cove, and then across the Strait of Belle Isle to L'Anse au Clair, inclusive, and then in a northeasterly direction along the boundary of district #1 to the point of commencement.

District #3 ‑ CORNER BROOK/DEER LAKE/ST. BARBE

                   Corner Brook/Deer Lake/St. Barbe district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Harbour Deep, inclusive, and extending in a southerly direction around the coast to The Beaches, inclusive, and then in a southerly direction to the southwest tip of Red Indian Lake, and then in a westerly direction in a straight line to the coast, passing through Gallants, inclusive, and then in a northerly direction around the coast to River of Ponds, exclusive, and then in an easterly direction along the boundary of district #2 to the point of commencement.

District #4 ‑ STEPHENVILLE/PORT AUX BASQUES

                   Stephenville/Port aux Basques district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at the southwest tip of Red Indian Lake, and extending in a southerly direction to Grey River, inclusive, and then in a westerly and northerly direction around the coast to the southern point of intersection with district #3, and then in an easterly direction along the boundary of district #3 to the point of commencement.

District #5 ‑ BAIE VERTE/CENTRAL/CONNAIGRE

                   Baie Verte/Central/Connaigre district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at The Beaches, exclusive, and extending in an easterly direction around the coast to Peterview, inclusive, and then in a southerly direction to Rencontre East, inclusive, and then in a westerly direction around the coast to Grey River, exclusive, and then in a northerly direction along the borders of districts #4 and #3 to the point of commencement.

District #6 ‑ LEWISPORTE/GANDER

                   Lewisporte/Gander district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Peterview, exclusive, and extending around the coast in an easterly direction to Charlottetown, Bonavista Bay, inclusive, and then in a southwesterly direction to Port Blandford, exclusive, and then to Rencontre East, exclusive, and then in a northerly direction along the boundary of district #5 to the point of commencement.

District #7 ‑ BURIN PENINSULA

                   Burin Peninsula district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Rencontre East, exclusive, and extending in an easterly direction to Grand Le Pierre, inclusive, and then in an easterly direction to Davis Cove, inclusive, and then in an easterly direction around Merasheen Island, Long Island and Red Island, and then in a southwesterly direction around the coast to the point of commencement.

District #8 ‑ CLARENVILLE/BONAVISTA

                   Clarenville/Bonavista district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Charlottetown, Bonavista Bay, exclusive, and extending in a southwesterly direction along the boundary of district #6 to Rencontre East, exclusive, and then in an easterly direction along the boundary of district #7 to Davis Cove, exclusive, and then around the coast in an easterly direction to Southern Harbour, inclusive, and then in an easterly direction to Chance Cove, exclusive, and then in a northerly direction around the coast to the point of commencement.

District #9 ‑ AVALON WEST

                   Avalon West district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Southern Harbour, exclusive, and extending in an easterly direction to Chance Cove, inclusive, and then around the coast in an easterly direction to Holyrood, inclusive, and then in a southwesterly direction to Peters River, inclusive, and then around the coast in a westerly direction to Southern Harbour, exclusive, and then in an easterly direction along the boundary of district #8 to the point of commencement.

District #10 ‑ AVALON EAST

                   Avalon East district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Holyrood, exclusive, and extending around the coast in an easterly and southerly direction, including Bell Island, to Peters River, exclusive, and then in a northerly direction along the boundary of district #9 to the point of commencement.
