Newfoundland Regulation 1997 Offshore
Petroleum Drilling (Filed February 12, 1997) Under the authority of section 145 of the Canada‑Newfoundland Atlantic Accord Implementation Newfoundland Act, the Lieutenant‑Governor in Council makes the following regulations. Rep., S.31 Amdt., Ss.32 to 44 Rep. & S.87 Amdt. CNR 748/96 1. Section 2 of the Offshore Petroleum Drilling Newfoundland Regulations is amended by inserting immediately after paragraph (g) the following: (g.1) "certificate of fitness" means a certificate, in the form satisfactory to the board or to a person designated by the board, issued by a certifying authority according to section 4 of the Offshore Certificate of Fitness Newfoundland Regulations; (g.2) "certifying authority" has the same meaning as in section 2 of the Offshore Certificate of Fitness Newfoundland Regulations; 2. Section 6 of the regulations is amended by adding immediately after paragraph (a) the following: (a.1) the operator shall conduct the drilling operations in accordance with the contingency plans referred to in section 64; (a.2) the operator shall conduct the drilling operations according to any conditions imposed relating to an approval referred to in paragraph (b); (a.3) a certificate of fitness shall be obtained for each drilling installation and accommodation installation and shall continue to be valid and in force; 3. Sections 17 to 20 and 24, paragraphs 27(1)(b) and (c), section 29, subsection 31(2), sections 32 to 44 and subsection 87(1) are repealed. ©Earl G. Tucker, Queen's Printer |
