Burnt Island Provisional Ecological Reserve Regulations
under the
Wilderness and Ecological Reserves Act

Under the authority of section 25 of the Wilderness and Ecological Reserves Act, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Regulations.

Short title

        1. These regulations may be cited as the Burnt Island Provisional Ecological Reserve Regulations.

Definitions

        2. In these regulations

             (a)  "Act" means the Wilderness and Ecological Reserves Act;

             (b)  "managing agency" means the Parks and Natural Areas Division of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation; and

             (c)  "motor vehicle" means a vehicle as defined under the Highway Traffic Act.

Motor vehicle operation

        3. Notwithstanding paragraph 24(2)(a) of the At, motor vehicles registered under the Highway Traffic Act may operate within the Burnt Island Provisional Reserve upon those roads prescribed by the managing agency.

Scientific research

        4. (1) Scientific research within the Burnt Island Provisional Reserve shall require a permit and those permits may be obtained from the managing agency on submission of a written request fully outlining and detailing the research project.

             (2)  Scientific research permits issued under subsection (1) may be subject to the terms and conditions the agency may determine.
