Labour Standards Regulations (Amendment)
under the
Labour Standards Act

Under the authority of sections 26 and 28 of the Labour Standards Act, the Lieutenant‑Governor in Council makes the following regulations.

        1. Section 8 of the Labour Standards Regulations is amended by adding immediately after subsection (2) the following:

             (3)  Notwithstanding subsection (1) or (2), effective October 1, 1999, every employer shall pay to every employee, 16 years of age and over, a wage rate of not less than $5.50 per hour.

        2. Section 9 of the regulations is amended by adding immediately after subsection (1.1) the following:

          (1.2)  Notwithstanding subsection (1) or (1.1), effective October 1, 1999, overtime wages shall be paid at a rate of not less than $8.25 per hour.
