Traffic Control and Parking Regulations (Amendment)
under the
Memorial University Act

Under the authority of section 35 of the Memorial University Act, the Board of Regents makes the following regulations.

        1. Section 6 of the Traffic Control and Parking Regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

Passenger drop-off/pick-up points 

        6. Locations for the drop-off and pick-up of passengers have been established on campus and are illustrated on the campus map which is available from the Campus Enforcement and Patrol Office.

 

        2. Subsection 11(2) of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

             (2)  Application forms for parking permits referred to in subsection (1) are available at the Campus Enforcement and Patrol Office, Facilities Management Building or at the Health Sciences Centre, Room 2302 and at Room 2062, Marine Institute.

 

        3. Section 16 of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

Designated areas

      16. (1) Parking in designated areas shall be allocated as space permits.

             (2)  Priority shall be given to full-time faculty and staff and to persons with disabilities who were registered for the parking area in the previous year.

             (3)  Priority for the 2000-2001 permit issue shall not be applicable after May 31, 2000.

             (4)  In the event that an applicant does not receive the preferred parking area indicated on the application form, a memo may be sent to the assistant manager of Campus Enforcement and Patrol, Traffic and Parking, indicating a continued interest in the preferred area as space becomes available.

 

        4. Section 29 of the regulations is amended by adding immediately after subsection (5) the following:

             (6)  Applicants shall include their employee number on the application form.

             (7)  Applications for payroll deduction shall not be accepted after September 20, 2000.

 

        5. The regulations are amended by adding immediately after section 29 the following:

Prorated permits

   29.1 (1) Permits issued for 2000-2001 shall be valid from May 1, 2000 to April 30, 2001.

             (2)  Permits sold after June 30, 2000 shall be prorated monthly.

             (3)  A minimum charge shall apply for prorated permits.

 

        6. Paragraph 37(1)(f) of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

              (f)  Parking areas 60 and 61 – Alexander Murray Building, enclosed parking structure off Arctic Avenue.

 

        7. Sections 42 and 43 of the regulations are repealed and the following substituted:

Towing fee

      42. A towing fee as prescribed by the board shall be charged by the university and shall be payable during normal business hours at the Campus Enforcement and Patrol Office in the Facilities Management Building on the St. John's campus or at the Cashier's Office at the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Corner Brook.

Impounding fee

      43. An impounding fee per day or any part of a day as prescribed by the board may be charged for an impounded vehicle and shall be payable during normal business hours at the Campus Enforcement and Patrol Office in the Facilities Management Building on the St. John's campus or at the Cashier's Office at the Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Corner Brook.
