Special Elections and Special By-Elections Order, 2001
under the
Municipal Elections Act

Under the authority of section 7 of the Municipal Elections Act, I make the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Special Elections and Special By-Elections Order, 2001.

Special elections

        2. It is ordered that special elections be held as follows:

             (a)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Baine Harbour on October 30, 2001, and that Helen Reid be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (b)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Bellburns, on October 30, 2001, and that Kay Willisko be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (c)  for a 7 member council in the Town of Biscay Bay on October 30, 2001, and that Fred White be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (d)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Brent's Cove on October 30, 2001, and that Ellen Butler be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (e)  for a 7 member council in the Town of Cartwright on October 30, 2001, and that Shirley Hopkins be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

              (f)  for a 7 member council in the Town of Change Islands, on October 30, 2001, and that Linda Peckford be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (g)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Coachman's Cove on October 30, 2001, and that Alphonsus T. Walsh be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (h)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Conche on October 30, 2001, and that Alice Flynn be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

              (i)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Duntara on October 30, 2001, and that Dorothy Power be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

              (j)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Gallants on October 30, 2001, and that Marion Collier be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (k)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Little Bay on October 30, 2001, and that Jamie Winsor be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

              (l)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Lord's Cove on October 30, 2001, and that Christina Lundrigan be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

            (m)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Morrisville on October 30, 2001, and that Karl Kendell be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (n)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Point of Bay on October 30, 2001, and that Sybil Boone be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election;

             (o)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Sally's Cove on October 30, 2001, and that Inez Roberts be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election; and

             (p)  for a 5 member council in the Town of Seal Cove, Fortune Bay on October 30, 2001, and that Emily Loveless be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that election.

Special by-elections

        3. It is ordered that special by-elections be held as follows:

             (a)  to elect 4 members to the Town Council in the Town of Bay L'Argent on October 30, 2001, and that Wanda Stewart be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

             (b)  to elect 5 members to the Town Council in the Town of Cape St. George on October 30, 2001, and that Sandra Jesso be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

             (c)  to elect 5 members to the Town Council in the Town of Crow Head on October 30, 2001, and that Meta J. Hamlyn be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

             (d)  to elect 4 members to the Town Council in the Town of Gaultois on October 30, 2001, and that Sylvin Rose be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

             (e)  to elect 3 members to the Town Council in the Town of Goose Cove East on October 30, 2001, and that Patricia Powell be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

              (f)  to elect 4 members to the Town Council in the Town of Irishtown-Summerside on October 30, 2001, and that Geraldine Wheeler be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

             (g)  to elect 5 members to the Town Council in the Town of Little Catalina on October 30, 2001, and that Marilyn Reid be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

             (h)  to elect 4 members to the Town Council in the Town of Point Lance on October 30, 2001, and that Bernadette Careen be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

              (i)  to elect 3 members to the Town Council in the Town of Port Kirwan on October 30, 2001, and that Dana Nolander be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

              (j)  to elect 3 members to the Town Council in the Town of Rushoon on October 30, 2001, and that Jacqueline Gaulton be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election;

             (k)  to elect 4 members to the Town Council in the Town of St. Mary's on October 30, 2001, and that Theresa Power be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election; and

              (l)  to elect 3 members to the Town Council in the Town of Tilting on October 30, 2001, and that Amanda Newman be appointed as returning officer for the purpose of conducting that by-election.
