Occupational Health and Safety Act

Under the authority of subsection 65(3) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following regulations.

        1. The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations are amended by adding immediately after section 187 the following:

Diving standards

187.1 (1) The following standards and code, including amendments to them, respecting diving operations are adopted and constituted as part of these regulations:

             (a)  CAN/CSA-Z275.4-97 "Competency Standard for Diving Operations"; and

             (b)  CAN/CSA-Z275.2-92 "Occupational Safety Code for Diving Operations".

             (2)  Diving operations for scientific purposes shall be conducted in accordance with the current Canadian Association for Underwater Science Standard of Practice for Scientific Diving.

             (3)  The standard referred to in paragraph (1)(a) takes effect 24 months after the publication of this section in the Gazette and the code referred to in paragraph (1)(b) takes effect 6 months after the publication of this section in the Gazette.
