Pharmaceutical Association Regulations, 1998 (Amendment)
under the
Pharmacy Act

Under the authority of section 14 of the Pharmacy Act, the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board, with the approval of the Minister of Health and Community Services, makes the following regulations.

        1. Section 1 of the Pharmaceutical Association Regulations, 1998 is repealed and the following substituted:

Short title

        1. These regulations may be cited as the Pharmacy Regulations.

 

        2. The regulations are amended by adding immediately after section 44 the following:

Tamper resistant prescription drug pads

   44.1 A pharmacist shall not dispense a drug included in the list of Schedule I drugs approved by the minister under subsection 45(1) under the heading "Tamper Resistant Prescription Drug Pad Program" unless the person prescribing the drug has written or typed the prescription on a tamper resistant prescription drug pad approved by and provided to the person by the minister, or a person or body on behalf of the minister, and the written or typed prescription is presented to the pharmacist or faxed in accordance with standards of practice for facsimile transmission set by the board.
