Open Season Big Game Moose Hunting Order,
Newfoundland, 2005-2006 (Amendment)
under the
Wild Life Regulations
and the
Wild Life Act

Under the authority of section 38 and 114 of the Wild Life Regulations and the Wild Life Act, I make the following Order.

NLR 79/05

        1. Section 2 of the Open Season Big Game Moose Hunting Order, Newfoundland, 2005-2006 is amended by deleting the word "Schedule" and substituting the word and letter "Schedule A".

 

        2. Section 3 of the Order is repealed and the following substituted:

             (2)  In addition to subsection (1), hunting by bow and arrow only shall be permitted in the following areas for the periods indicated:

             (3)  Notwithstanding subsection (1) and (2), there shall be no open season in Area 43 for moose that are predominately white in color.

        3. The Order is amended by adding immediately after section 6 the following:

Sunday hunting

      6.1 Hunting with a firearm on Sundays shall be permitted for the species and during the seasons as described in this Order only during the period of

             (a)  November 1, 2006-December 10, 2006 in Sunday Hunting Zone A, as described in Schedule B; and

             (b)  November 1, 2006-January 7, 2007 in Sunday Hunting Zone B as described in Schedule B.

 

        4. The Schedule to the Order is renamed as "Schedule A" and paragraph (h) Management Area 7 is repealed and the following substituted:

             (h)  Management Area 7 - South Brook

All that area of the Island of Newfoundland beginning at the Humber Canal Spillway Crossing;

Then following the south bank of the Humber Canal to Grand Lake;

Then following the shoreline of Grand Lake in a south westerly direction to the closest point opposite Camp 33 Road;

Then following a straight line to Camp 33 Road;

Then following Camp 3 Road to the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH);

Then following the TCH in a northeasterly direction to its intersection with the Riverside Drive Overpass;

Then following a straight line due north to the south bank of the Humber River;

Then following the south bank of the Humber River and the southeastern shoreline of Deer Lake to the point of commencement and including Glover Island.

 

        5. The Order is amended by adding immediately after Schedule A the following:

Schedule B

Sunday Hunting Zone A - Western Region

All that area of the Island of Newfoundland bounded by a line beginning at a point known as Friar Head in Fortune Bay;

Then following a straight line to the southwestern end of Norsemans Pond;

Then following a straight line in a northeasterly direction to a point of land, elevation 852 feet, east of Norsemans Pond at an approximate location of 48° 9' 54.3" north latitude and 54° 25' 27.8" west longitude;

Then following a straight line in a northerly direction to the northeastern extremity of Norsemans Pond;

Then following a straight line to the western extremity of Norsemans Pond;

Then following a straight line in a generally northeasterly direction to the southeastern extremity of Saddle Pond;

Then following the southwestern shoreline of Saddle Pond to the stream at its northern extremity;

Then following this stream in a generally northeasterly direction to the most southwesterly point of a small pond located at an approximate location of 48° 19' 14" north latitude and 54° 22' 25.8" west longitude;

Then following the northwestern bank of the unnamed pond to a small stream at its northern extremity

Then following the stream flowing from the unnamed Pond in a generally northeasterly direction to the southwestern extremity of Salmon Pond;

Then following the west bank of Salmon Pond and Salmon River in a generally northeasterly direction to its intersection with the T'Railway;

Then following the T'Railway in a generally northerly direction to a small stream flowing into the eastern end of Maccles Lake at Millers Angle at an approximate location of 48° 36' 49.9" north latitude and 54° 7' 40" west longitude;

Then following the eastern bank of that stream to Maccles Lake ;

Then following the southern shoreline of Maccles Lake in a generally westerly direction to the western extremity of that lake;

Then following a straight line to the outlet of Parsons Pond;

Then following the eastern bank of this brook to its mouth in Gambo Pond;

Then following the southern shoreline of Gambo Pond and the south bank of Gambo River to its mouth in Freshwater Bay, Bonavista Bay;

Then following the coastline of insular Newfoundland including all offshore islands and excluding all areas within National Park jurisdiction in westerly direction to the point of commencement.

Sunday Hunting Zone B- Eastern Region

All that area of the Island of Newfoundland bounded by a line beginning at a point known as Friar Head in Fortune Bay;

Then following a straight line to the southwestern end of Norsemans Pond;

Then following a straight line in a northeasterly direction to a point of land, elevation 852 feet, east of Norsemans Pond at an approximate location of 48° 9' 54.3" north latitude and 54° 25' 27.8" west longitude;

Then following a straight line in a northerly direction to the northeastern extremity of Norsemans Pond;

Then following a straight line to the western extremity of Norsemans Pond;

Then following a straight line in a generally northeasterly direction to the southeastern extremity of Saddle Pond;

Then following the southwestern shoreline of Saddle Pond to the stream at its northern extremity;

Then following this stream in a generally northeasterly direction to the most southwesterly point of a small pond located at an approximate location of 48° 19' 14" north latitude and 54° 22' 25.8" west longitude;

Then following the northwestern bank of the unnamed pond to a small stream at its northern extremity

Then following the stream flowing from the unnamed pond in a generally northeasterly direction to the southwestern extremity of Salmon Pond;

Then following the west bank of Salmon Pond and Salmon River in a generally northeasterly direction to its intersection with the T'Railway;

Then following the T'Railway in a generally northerly direction to a small stream flowing into the eastern end of Maccles Lake at Millers Angle at an approximate location of 48° 36' 49.9" North latitude and 54° 7' 40" west longitude;

Then following the eastern bank of that stream to Maccles Lake ;

Then following the southern shoreline of Maccles Lake in a generally westerly direction to the western extremity of that lake;

Then following a straight line to the outlet of Parsons Pond;

Then following the eastern bank of this brook to its mouth in Gambo Pond;

Then following the southern shoreline of Gambo Pond and the south bank of Gambo River to its mouth in Freshwater Bay, Bonavista Bay;
