Animal Protection Standards Regulations (Amendment)
under the
Animal Health and Protection Act

Under the authority of subsection 29(2) of the Animal Health and Protection Act, I make the following regulations.

        1. Sections 8 and 9 of the Animal Protection Standards Regulations are repealed and the following substituted:

Mink

        8. (1) The Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Farmed Mink (2013) published by the National Farm Animal Care Council, is adopted except for subsection 1.1 and section 7.

             (2)  An owner or operator of a fur farm shall comply with the requirements in the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Farmed Mink (2013), to the extent that they are adopted under subsection (1).

Fox

        9. (1) The Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Farmed Fox (Vulpes vulpes) (2013) published by the National Farm Animal Care Council is adopted except subsection 1.1 and section 7.  

             (2)  An owner or operator of a fur farm shall comply with the requirements in the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Farmed Fox (Vulpes vulpes) (2013), to the extent that they are adopted under subsection (1).

 

        2. Schedule A of the regulations is amended by repealing sections 14 and 15 and substituting the following:

            14.  Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Farmed Mink (2013), published by the National Farm Animal Care Council.

            15.  Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Farmed Fox (Vulpes vulpes) (2013) published by the National Farm Animal Care Council.
