Repeal Schedule A Schedule B Short title 1. This Notice may be cited as the Department of Justice and Public Safety Notice. Definitions 2. In this Notice (a) "department" means, unless the context indicates otherwise, the Department of Justice and Public Safety; and (b) "minister" means, unless the context indicates otherwise, the Minister of Justice and Public Safety. Departmental structure 3. (1) The department was confirmed by Order in Council 2017-309. (2) The department is presided over by the minister and the Attorney General. (3) The department consists of 4 branches as follows: (a) Courts and Corporate Services, including the Office of the Legislative Counsel; (b) Legal Services; (c) Public Prosecutions; and (d) Public Safety and Enforcement. Powers and duties of the minister 4. The powers, functions and duties of the minister include the supervision, control and direction of all matters relating to the administration of (a) the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Office; (b) the justice system in the province; (c) court services in the province; (d) correctional and community service systems in the province; and (e) public safety and law enforcement in the province, which are not, or in so far as they are not, the responsibility of another minister, agency, body, corporation, board, organization or person. Administration of Acts 5. (1) The minister has sole responsibility for the administration of the Acts set out in Schedule A and of all orders and regulations passed or made under those Acts, including those powers, functions or duties necessary or desirable for carrying out the purposes of those Acts. (2) The minister and the minister of the departments indicated in Schedule B share responsibility for the administration of the Acts set out in Schedule B and of the orders and regulations passed or made under those Acts, including those powers, functions or duties necessary or desirable for carrying out the purposes of those Acts. (3) The minister has primary responsibility for the administration of the Acts set out in Schedule B. Repeal 6. The Department of Justice Notice, 2003, Newfoundland and Labrador Regulation 85/03, is repealed. Schedule A 1. Access to Abortion Services Act 2.
