Fire Ban Proclamation (Filed April 21, 2020) Under the authority of section 99 of the Forestry Act, I proclaim a fire ban in all areas of the province. Dated at St. John's, April 17, 2020. Tracy King PROCLAMATION Analysis 1. Fire ban 2. Duration of ban Fire ban 1. The fire ban prohibits the setting of fires on forest land or within 300 metres of forest land in all areas of the province. (2) The fire ban shall not apply to the setting of fires for the following purposes: (a) agriculture; (b) silviculture; or (c) fire services training. (3) Notwithstanding subsection (2), a person shall not set a fire for a purpose referred to in paragraph (2)(a), (b) or (c) during the period of the ban unless the person has obtained the written permission of a forestry official from the forest management district where the fire will take place. Duration of ban 2. The fire ban shall remain in force until 11:59 p.m. September 30, 2020. ©Queen's Printer |
