     Open Seasons Hunting and Trapping Order, 2022-2023 (Amendment)
under the
Wild Life Regulations
and the
Wild Life Act

Under the authority of sections 16, 25, 27, 38, 39, 73, 81.2 and 114 of the Wild Life Regulations and the Wild Life Act, I make the following Order.

        1. Section 6 of the Open Seasons Hunting and Trapping Order, 2022-2023 is repealed and the following substituted:

Black bear - Labrador

        6. The open season for the trapping and shooting of black bear in Labrador, excluding Torngat Mountains National Park and Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve, shall be April 1, 2023 to July 13, 2023 and August 10, 2023 to November 30, 2023.

 

        2. Subsections 7(2) to (4) of the Order are repealed and the following substituted:

             (2)  The open season for the trapping and shooting of black bear on the Island of Newfoundland in all moose management areas shall be May 1, 2023 to July 15, 2023 and September 9, 2023 to November 12, 2023.

             (3)  Notwithstanding subsection (2), there shall be no open season for the trapping or shooting of black bear in moose management areas 31 to 36, 43 and 44.

             (4)  The open season for the shooting of black bear on the Island of Newfoundland in all moose management areas by long bow or compound bow and arrow shall be August 26, 2023 to September 8, 2023.
