Animal Protection Regulations (Amendment)
under the
Animal Health and Protection Act
(O.C. 2025-219)

Under the authority of sections 29 and 66 of the Animal Health and Protection Act, the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following regulations.

        1. Section 10 of the Animal Protection Regulations is repealed and the following substituted:

Accepted activity - declawing of cat

      10. An accepted activity in which a cat may be declawed or permitted to be declawed is the surgical removal of the cat's claws by a veterinarian as a result of an injury to the cat or other medical necessity as determined by a veterinarian.

Commencement

        2. These regulations come into force on the day the Animal Health and Protection (Amendment) Act, SNL2024 c18, comes into force.
