Town of Paradise Order
under the
Municipalities Act
(O.C. 96-170)

Under the authority of section 3 of the Municipalities Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act, the Lieutenant‑Governor in Council makes the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Town of Paradise Order.

Boundaries

        2. The boundaries of the Town of Paradise are as set out in the Schedule.

Repeal

        3. Newfoundland Regulations 235/91 and 103/92 are repealed.


Schedule

Beginning at a point on the highwater mark of the eastern shoreline of Conception Bay, that point being at the mouth of an unnamed stream at co‑ordinates north 5 271 475 metres and east 312 536 metres;

Then in a southeasterly direction along the centre line of the stream to the centre point of a culvert situate approximately 9/10 of a kilometre southwestward via Horse Cove Line from the Dog Berry Hill Road intersection and more particularly 107 metres northeastward from Crown Lands control monument No. 026666;

Then south 32° 15' east 1,290 metres, more or less, to a high point, spot elevation 176 metres;

Then south 11° 00' east 1,290 metres, more or less, to a high point, Crown Lands control monument No. 026660, spot elevation 185.62 metres;

Then south 05° 00' west 430 metres, more or less, to a point in a power transmission (centre) line at co‑ordinates north 5 268 577 metres and east 313 583 metres;

Then south 30° 30' east via the power transmission (centre) line 592 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 268 066 metres and east 313 881 metres;

Then north 75° 00' east 77 metres, more or less, to a high point on the Broad Cove River watershed boundary, spot elevation 183.0 metres;

Then following the watershed boundary to and then crossing Camrose Drive extension, Millers Road, to the eastern sideline of the road at co‑ordinates north 5 268 033 metres and east 314 150 metres;

Then in a southwesterly direction along the eastern sideline of the road to a point, that point being 75 metres northeastward via Camrose Drive extension, Millers Road, from its intersection with the power transmission (centre) line;

Then south 56° 00' east 61 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 267 858 metres and east 314 130 metres;

Then in a southwesterly direction along a line parallel to and 61 metres from the eastern sideline of Camrose Drive to a point on the power transmission (centre) line;

Then south 30° 30' east along the power transmission (centre) line and extension of the power transmission line 100 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 267 694 metres and east 314 100 metres;

Then south 61° 00' west 69 metres, more or less, to a point on the power transmission (centre) line;

Then in a southwesterly direction along the power transmission (centre) line 155 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being 61 metres from the northern sideline of Southview Road at co‑ordinates north 5 267 507 metres and east 314 003 metres;

Then in a southeasterly direction along a line parallel to and 61 metres from the sideline of the road 45 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 267 489 metres and east 314 045 metres;

Then south 18° 00' west 61 metres, more or less, to a point on the northern sideline of Southview Road;

Then in a southeasterly direction along the northern sideline of the road 35 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 267 408 metres and east 314 054 metres;

Then south 23° 30' west 88 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 267 327 metres and east 314 019 metres;

Then due west 65 metres, more or less, to a point on the transmission (centre) line;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the transmission (centre) line 120 metres, more or less, to the southern sideline of Southview Road;

Then in a westerly direction along the southern sideline of the road to and then in a southerly direction along the eastern sideline of Camrose Drive to a point 153 metres northward from the centre line of Paradise Road;

Then in an easterly direction along a line parallel to and 153 metres from the centre line of the road to a point on the western side of Bernard Drive;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the western sideline or alignment of Bernard Drive 100 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 266 905 metres and east 314 297 metres;

Then south 43° 30' east 75 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 266 850 metres and east 314 350 metres;

Then south 47° 00' west 122 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being 153 metres from the centre line of Paradise Road at co‑ordinates north 5 266 767 metres and east 314 261 metres;

Then in a southeasterly direction continuing along a line parallel to and 153 metres from the centre line of the road to a point at the rear of Paradise Cemetery, and being at a cut line point situate 50 metres northwest of Janal's Road;

Then north 48° 30' east 280 metres, more or less, along the cut line to a point on a second cut line;

Then south 47° 00' east 90 metres, more or less, and south 30° 00' east 450 metres, more or less, along the cut line to a point 84 metres northwest of Milton Road at co‑ordinates north 5 266 215 metres and east 314 967 metres;

Then north 61° 30' east 335 metres, more or less, to a point on the Broad Cove River watershed at co‑ordinates north 5 266 376 metres and east 315 263 metres;

Then in a general easterly direction along the watershed boundary to a high point, spot elevation 187 metres at co‑ordinates north 5 266 834 metres and east 317 826.5 metres;

Then south 03° 00' west 189 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 266 645 metres and east 317 817 metres;

Then along a bearing of alignment with a point, spot elevation 189.1 metres, between 2 cut lines following a demarcation line between land now or formerly owned by Cabot Development and land now or formerly owned by Country Holdings and Newfoundland Telephone Co. Ltd., south 30° 00' east 619 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 266 110 metres and east 318 129 metres;

Then along a bearing of alignment with a point situate 290 metres, more or less, along the centre line of the Trans Canada Highway from the intersection of the road to the Anglican cemetery south 20° 00' east 60 metres, more or less, to a point on the southern sideline of the highway at co‑ordinates north 5 266 053.5 metres and east 318 149 metres;

Then nevertheless including all ramps in a southwesterly direction along the sideline of the highway to Route 2, St. John's Harbour Arterial Road;

Then nevertheless excluding all ramps in a westerly direction along the northern sideline of Route 2 to a point on Fowlers Brook;

Then in a northwesterly direction along the brook 600 metres, more or less, to a point on a power transmission (centre) line at co‑ordinates north 5 263 279 metres and east 310 687 metres;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the centre line of the power transmission (centre) line to a point, that point being 200 metres, more or less, from the western sideline of Round Pond Road;

Then in a northwesterly direction along a line parallel to and 200 metres from the sideline of the road to a point on an unnamed indefinite stream at co‑ordinates north 5 264 575 metres and east 310 698 metres;

Then in a northwesterly direction along the stream crossing Spruce Hill Road Extension to a point on the northern sideline of the Canadian National Railway right‑of‑way, that point being at co‑ordinates north 5 264 926 metres and east 310 416 metres;

Then in a general easterly direction along the northern sideline of the right‑of‑way 1,660 metres, more or less, to a point at co‑ordinates north 5 265 572 metres and east 311 520 metres;

Then north 23° 45' east 80 metres, more or less, to a point on the centre line of Highway 60 and being at the centre point in the Topsail Road bridge over Topsail Pond River;

Then north 13° 00' west 1,455 metres, more or less, to a point having co‑ordinates north 5 267 062.679 metres and east 311 228.933 metres;

Then north 00° 26' 48" east 396.212 metres and north 16° 22' 34" east 199.234 metres and north 26° 17' 14" west 344.155 metres and north 89° 58' 09" west 13.900 metres and north 89° 58' 09" west 23.000 metres to the eastern shoreline of Conception Bay having MTM co‑ordinates north 5 267 062.679 metres and east 311 228.933 metres;

Then in a general northerly direction along the sinuosities of the shoreline passing St. Thomas Cove to the point of beginning.

All bearings refer to grid north, central meridian 53° west longitude, and as with distances and co‑ordinates given are subject to approximation as delineated on the 1:12,500 and 1:2500 Crown Lands and Surveys Division Mapping, 1973/81 editions.
