Oil and Gas Spills and Debris Under the authority of section 145 of the Canada‑Newfoundland Atlantic Accord Implementation Newfoundland Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act, the Lieutenant‑Governor in Council makes the following regulations. Spills and Debris Liability 72/88 s1 Definition 2. In these regulations "Act" means the Canada‑Newfoundland Atlantic Accord
Implementation 72/88 s2 Limits of liability 3. For the purposes of section 157 of the Act, the limits of liability are (a) in respect of an area of land or submarine area referred to in paragraph 6(1)(a) of the Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act (Canada), the amount by which $40,000,000 exceeds the amount prescribed under section 9 of that Act in respect of an activity or undertaking engaged in or carried on by a person described in paragraph 6(1)(a) of that Act; (b) in respect of a submarine area lying north of the 60th parallel of north latitude and to which paragraph (a) does not apply, the amount of $40,000,000; (c) in respect of an area to which the Act applies and for which no other limit is prescribed by these regulations, the amount of $30,000,000. 72/88 s3 Repeal 4.
