Cupids Municipal Planning Area
under the
Urban and Rural Planning Act
(O.C. 96‑202)

Under the authority of section 11 of the Urban and Rural Planning Act and the Subordinate Legislation Revision and Consolidation Act, the Lieutenant‑Governor in Council defines the following area as the Cupids Municipal Planning Area.

PLANNING AREA

Beginning at a point on the highwater mark of the western shoreline of Conception Bay, that point being the easternmost extremity of Grassy Point;

Then in a southerly direction along the sinuosities of the shoreline to a point on the Brigus planning area boundary at Black Hole;

Then south 45° 30' west 2,438.4 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being the junction of 2 secondary roads leading from Shark's Cove to Brigus;

Then south 57° 00' west 1,493.5 metres, more or less, to a point on the centre line of the abandoned Canadian National Railway right‑of‑way at which point it intersects the old Conception Bay Highway leading to Cupids;

Then south 47° 30' west 1,645.9 metres, more or less, to a point on the Conception Bay Highway, that point being 213.4 metres eastward of the highway's crossing of Rodgers Brook;

Then south 27° 30' west 132 metres, more or less, to a point, that point having co‑ordinates north 5 265 169 metres and east 286 252 metres and being 100 metres south of the highway;

Then in a westerly direction along a line parallel to and 100 metres from the centre line of the highway 320 metres to a point on the eastern bank of Rodgers Brook and having co‑ordinates north 5 265 113 metres and east 285 936 metres;

Then in a southwesterly direction along the eastern bank of the brook to a point on a line perpendicular to and 100 metres, more or less, from the centre line of Roaches Line, Route 70;

Then in a southwesterly direction along a line parallel to and 100 metres from the centre line of Route 70 to a point, that point being due west of horizontal control monument No. 92060, spot elevation 158.50 metres;

Then due east 130 metres, more or less, to the control monument;

Then in a southeasterly direction to a point on the railway right‑of‑way, that point being due east of the northernmost extremity of Cupids Long Pond;

Then in a southerly direction along the centre line of the right‑of‑way to a point, that point being on a line perpendicular to and 400 metres from the centre line of the Trans Canada Highway (TCH), Route 1;

Then in a westerly direction along a line parallel to and 400 metres from the centre line of the TCH to a point, that point being on a line perpendicular to and 400 metres from the centre line of Roaches Line ‑ Conception Bay North By‑Pass;

Then in a northerly direction along a line parallel to and 400 metres from the centre line of Roaches Line ‑ Conception Bay North By‑Pass to a point on the eastern shoreline of Goulds Brook;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the eastern shoreline of the brook to a point, that point being on a line perpendicular to and 400 metres from the centre line of Hodgewater Line;

Then in a northeasterly direction along a line parallel to and 400 metres from the centre line of Hodgewater Line to a point on the centre line of Goulds Road;

Then north 11° 30' west 415 metres, more or less, to a point on the eastern shoreline of Goulds Brook, that point being on the southern boundary of the Town of South River;

Then in a northeasterly direction along a line parallel to and 100 metres, more or less, from the centre line of Hodgewater Line to a point on the centre line of the railway right‑of‑way;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the centre line of the right‑of‑way to a point, that point being where the right‑of‑way is crossed over by a power transmission line;

Then in a northeasterly direction a distance of 914.4 metres, more or less, to a point on the centre line of the Roaches Line, that point being 100 metres, more or less, southeast of the intersection of Cupids Crossing Road and the Roaches Line;

Then in a northwesterly direction along a line parallel to and 100 metres, more or less, from the centre line of Cupids Crossing Road ‑ Carroll's Road to a point on the centre line of the railway right‑of‑way;

Then in a northeasterly direction along the centre line of the right‑of‑way a distance of 213 metres, more or less, to a point along the line of demarcation of the property at the southeast corner of Carroll's Road and the old Conception Bay Highway intersection;

Then along the line in a northwesterly direction a distance of 152 metres, more or less, to a point on the centre line of Carroll's Road;

Then along the centre line of Carroll's Road in a northeastern direction crossing over the old Conception Bay Highway and then continuing along the centre line of a woods road to a point, that point being north 38° east and 3.6 kilometres, more or less, from the last given point;

Then in a northwesterly direction along the woods road a distance of 548.6 metres, more or less, to a point where the woods road ties into Salmon Cove Road, that point being north 52° west and 503 metres, more or less, from the last given point;

Then north 45° west a distance of 97.5 metres, more or less, to a point on the highwater mark on the southeastern shore of Bay de Grave;

Then in a general northerly direction along the sinuosities of the shoreline, passing Cupids Cove, The Arch, Burnt Point to Grassy Point, the point of beginning.

All bearings refer to grid north and as with distances given are subject to approximation as delineated on the 1:12,000 and 1:2500 Crown Lands and Surveys Division mapping, 1971 and 1984 editions.
