Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. The Newfoundland Law Reform Commission Act, 1971 is amended by adding the following immediately after section 7:

Powers

7.1 (1) The commission may receive money as a grant from sources other than government and disburse that money in a manner consistent with its functions.

(2) The commission may enter into contracts with a person who is not an employee of the commission for the purpose of conducting research in a subject matter that furthers its functions.
