CHAPTER 20

AN ACT TO AMEND THE SCHOOLS ACT

(Assented to May 31, 1991)

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. Section 3 of The Schools Act is repealed and the following is substituted:

Language of instruction

3. (1) Where an individual has rights under section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to have his or her children receive school instruction in French, the children of that individual shall receive that instruction in accordance with those rights wherever in the province those rights apply.

(2) The Lieutenant-Governor in Council may make regulations respecting anything that may be required to give effect to subsection (1).
