AN ACT TO AMEND THE INTERNAL ECONOMY COMMISSION ACT

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. The Internal Economy Commission Act is amended by adding immediately after section 13 the following:

14. (1) Notwithstanding subsection 13(5), the sessional and non-taxable allowances paid to the members of the House of Assembly as recommended in the 1989 report respecting the indemnities, allowances and salaries to be paid to members known as the Morgan Report shall be reduced for the period beginning on April 1, 1993 and ending on March 31, 1994 by 4.5% respectively.

(2) Notwithstanding subsection 13(5), the salaries paid to the

(a) Speaker of the House of Assembly;

(b) Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly;

(c) Deputy Chairperson of Committees;

(d) Leader of the Opposition;

(e) Official Opposition House Leader;

(f) Chairperson and other members of the Public Accounts Committee; and

(g) party whips

as recommended in the 1989 report respecting the indemnities, allowances and salaries to be paid to members known as the Morgan Report shall be reduced for the period beginning on April 1, 1993 and ending on March 31, 1994 by 4.5%.

2. This Act is considered to have come into force on April 1, 1993.
