AN ACT TO AMEND THE SCHOOLS ACT
(Assented to June 18, 1993)

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. Section 6 of the Schools Act is amended by adding immediately after subsection (9) the following:

(9.1) Notwithstanding subsection (9), the minister may postpone a general election of members selected by election to a day specified by order but that postponed general election shall not be delayed beyond the next scheduled day for an election under that subsection.

(9.2) Notwithstanding subsection (10), where an election is postponed under subsection (9.1), members of a school board selected by election shall hold office from the time of their appointment until the appointment of members elected under the next election held under subsection (9).
