AN ACT TO AMEND THE PHYSIOTHERAPY ACT

(Assented to December 19, 1996)

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. The Physiotherapy Act is amended by adding immediately after section 13 the following:

Orders to pay expenses

13.1 (1) The council may, in addition to dealing with a person under section 13, order the person pay the expenses or a portion of the expenses of the council arising out of an investigation and hearing under section 13, and in the time fixed by the council.

(2) Where a person who was ordered to pay the expenses of the council under subsection (1) fails to pay in the time required, the council may suspend the membership of that person until the expenses are paid.

(3) Expenses ordered by the council under this section are a debt due the council and may be recovered by the council by a civil action.
