CHAPTER 21

AN ACT TO AMEND THE LABRADOR INUIT LAND CLAIMS AGREEMENT ACT

(Assented to June 27, 2012)

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

        1. Section 4.3.1 of the Schedule to the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement Act is repealed and the following substituted:

         4.3.1  The boundaries of Labrador Inuit Lands on the Effective Date are set out in the Map Atlas (shown for illustrative purposes only in Schedules 4-B and 4-D) and described in Appendix A-3 Part 2, Appendix A-3 Part 4, Appendix B-1 Parts 3 and 4, Appendix B-2 Parts 3 and 4, Appendix B-3 Parts 3 and 4, Appendix B-4 Parts 3 and 4 and Appendix B-5 Parts 3 and 4.

 

        2. Subsection 4.4.3(a) of the Schedule to the Act is repealed and the following substituted:

             (a)  the sea bed within the boundaries of Water Lots set out in the Map Atlas (shown for illustrative purposes only in Schedule 4-D) and described in Appendix A-3 Part 4, Appendix B-1 Part 4, Appendix B-2 Part 4, Appendix B-3 Part 4, Appendix B-4 Part 4 and Appendix B-5 Part 4, but does not include ownership of Tidal Waters above the sea bed within the boundaries of the Water Lots; and

 

        3. Schedule 17-B of the Schedule to the Act is repealed and the following substituted:

 

 


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

        4. The Map Atlas and appendices which form part of the Schedule to the Act and which are on file with Crown Lands Division of the Department of Environment and Conservation are amended as set out in a Memorandum of Agreement dated April 20, 2012 between the Inuit of Labrador as represented by the Nunatsiavut Government, Her Majesty the Queen in right of Newfoundland and Labrador and Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada and which is on file with Crown Lands Division of the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Commencement

        5. (1) This Act comes into force on a day to be proclaimed by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council.

             (2)  Notwithstanding subsection (1), sections 1, 2 and 3 of this Act and sections 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 24 and 25 of the Memorandum of Agreement referenced in section 4 are considered to have come into force on December 1, 2005.
