Statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador 2026 Chapter 16

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Attorney General Statutes Amendment Act, 2026.

2. Paragraph 85(3)(b) of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015 is amended by deleting the words "the Clerk Assistant of the House of Assembly" and substituting the words "the person appointed under paragraph 10(1)(b) of the House of Assembly Accountability, Integrity and Administration Act".

3. (1) Subsection 179.19(4) of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation and Offshore Renewable Energy Management Newfoundland and Labrador Act is amended by

(a) deleting the words "federal minister" and substituting the words "provincial minister"; and

(b) deleting the words "provincial minister's" and substituting the words "federal minister's".

(2) Subsection 201.84(3) of the Act is amended by deleting the words "him or her" and substituting the words "the recipient".

4. (1) Paragraph 7(2)(a) of the Councillor Remuneration and Reimbursement Regulations under the Towns and Local Service Districts Act is amended by deleting the reference "paragraph (2)(e)" and substituting the reference "paragraph (1)(e)".

(2) Paragraph 7(2)(b) of the regulations is amended by deleting the reference "paragraph (2)(g)" and substituting the reference "paragraph (1)(g)".

5. Subsection 14(8) of the Denturists Act, 2005 is amended by deleting the reference "Public Inquiries Act" and substituting the reference "Public Inquiries Act, 2006".

6. Subsection 22(9) of the Dietitians Act is amended by deleting the reference "Public Inquiries Act" and substituting the reference "Public Inquiries Act, 2006".

7. (1) Paragraph 3(a) of the Dispensing Opticians Act, 2005 is amended by deleting the reference "Medical Act, 2005" and substituting the reference "Medical Act, 2011".

(2) Subsection 13(9) of the Act is amended by deleting the reference "Public Inquiries Act" and substituting the reference "Public Inquiries Act, 2006".

8. Subparagraph 2(b)(ii) of the Gunshot and Stab Wound Reporting Act is amended by deleting the reference "Medical Act, 2005" and substituting the reference "Medical Act, 2011".

9. Subsection 13(10) of the Hearing Aid Practitioners Act is amended by deleting the reference "Public Inquiries Act" and substituting the reference "Public Inquiries Act, 2006".

10. (1) The Schedule to the Independent Appointments Commission Act is amended by deleting the statutory appointment reference "Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act, 2022, subsection 6(1), paragraphs 6(2)(c) and (d), section 8 and subsections 33(1) and (2)" and substituting the statutory appointment reference "Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act, 2022, paragraph 6(2)(a), section 8 and subsections 33(1) and (2)".

(2) The Schedule to the Act is amended by deleting the statutory appointment reference "Regional Health Authorities Act, Regional Health Authorities Regulations, subsection 3(3)".

11. Paragraph 2(b) of the Innkeepers Act is amended by deleting the words "or a price" and substituting the words "for a price".

13. Paragraph 2(1)(c) of the Management of Greenhouse Gas Administrative Penalty Regulations under the Management of Greenhouse Gas Act is repealed and the following substituted:

14. Paragraph 20.1(4)(a) of the Management of Greenhouse Gas Reporting Regulations is amended by deleting the reference "subsection 12(2) of the Management of Greenhouse Gas Regulations" and substituting the reference "subsection 12(3) of the Management of Greenhouse Gas Regulations".

15. Subsection 14(8) of the Massage Therapy Act, 2005 is amended by deleting the reference "Public Inquiries Act" and substituting the reference "Public Inquiries Act, 2006".

17. Subparagraph 2(n)(i) of the Medical Radiation Technologists Regulations under the Health Professions Act is amended by deleting the word "optical" and substituting the word "optimal".

18. Subsection 14(9) of the Occupational Therapists Act, 2005 is amended by deleting the reference "Public Inquiries Act" and substituting the reference "Public Inquiries Act, 2006".

19. Column 1 of Item 1 in section 5 of the Offshore Petroleum Administrative Monetary Penalties Regulations under the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation and Offshore Renewable Energy Management Newfoundland and Labrador Act is amended by deleting the words "the National Energy Board or the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board" and substituting the words "the Canada Energy Regulator or the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator".

20. (1) Paragraph 4(2)(b) of the Offshore Petroleum Financial Requirements Regulations under the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Atlantic Accord Implementation and Offshore Renewable Energy Management Newfoundland and Labrador Act is amended by deleting the reference "Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation Act" and substituting the reference "Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation and Offshore Renewable Energy Management (Nova Scotia) Act".

(2) Paragraph 4(2)(c) of the regulations is amended by deleting the reference "Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation (Nova Scotia) Act, SNS1987, c.3" and substituting the reference "Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Resources Accord Implementation and Offshore Renewable Energy Management (Nova Scotia) Act, SNS1987, c.3".

21. Subsection 16(9) of the Physiotherapy Act, 2006 is amended by deleting the reference "Public Inquiries Act" and substituting the reference "Public Inquiries Act, 2006".

22. Subsection 11(3) of the Provincial Parks Regulations under the Provincial Parks Act is repealed and the following substituted:

(3) The requirement for a sticker or other identifying marker under section 14 of the Off-Road Vehicles Regulations applies to the use of a motorized snow vehicle on a managed trail in the Newfoundland and Labrador T'Railway Provincial Park.

23. Subparagraph 2(1)(oo)(iv) of the Securities Act is amended by deleting the reference "section 84.1" and substituting the reference "section 75.1".

24. (1) Paragraph 88(4)(a) of the Towns and Local Service Districts Act is amended by deleting the word "with" and substituting the words "which the".

(2) Paragraph 99(4)(b) of the Act is amended by deleting the reference "subsection (3)" and substituting the reference "subsection (1)".

(3) Subsection 103(1) of the Act is amended by adding a quotation mark after the words "Newfoundland and Labrador".

(4) Subsection 285(7) of the Act is amended by deleting the word "marshal" and substituting the word "commissioner".

(5) Subsection 286(5) of the Act is amended by deleting the word "marshal" and substituting the word "commissioner".
