Under the authority of section 52 of the Schools Act, 1997 , the Lieutenant-Governor in Council makes the following Order.

Short title

        1. This Order may be cited as the Boundaries of School Districts Order, 2004 .

Districts

        2. The province is divided into the following school districts:

District # 1 - LABRADOR

                   Labrador district shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Norman Bay, exclusive, and extending in a southerly direction to Charlottetown, Labrador, exclusive, and then to Port Hope Simpson, exclusive, and then to L'Anse au Clair, exclusive, and then in a westerly and northerly direction along the Quebec border, and then in a southerly direction around the coast to the point of commencement.

District # 2 - WESTERN NEWFOUNDLAND

                   The Western Newfoundland District shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Norman Bay, inclusive, and extending in a southerly direction around the coast to Chateau Bay, and then across the Strait of Belle Isle to Big Brook, and then in an easterly direction around the coast of the Northern Peninsula to Harbour Deep, and then in a southerly direction around the coast to The Beeches, inclusive, and then in a southerly direction to the southwest tip of Red Indian Lake, and then in a southerly direction to Francois, inclusive, and then in a westerly and northerly direction around the coast to Pond Cove, and then across the Strait of Belle Isle to l'Anse au Clair, inclusive, and then in a northeasterly direction along the boundary of District 1 to the point of commencement.

District # 3 - NOVA CENTRAL

                   The Nova Central District shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at The Beaches, exclusive, and extending in a northerly and easterly direction around the coast to Charlottetown, Bonavista Bay, inclusive and then in a southwesterly direction to Port Blandford, exclusive, and then to Rencontre East, inclusive, and then in a westerly direction around the coast to Francois, exclusive, and then in a northerly direction along the boarder of District 2 to the point of commencement.

District # 4 - EASTERN NEWFOUNDLAND

                   The Eastern Newfoundland District shall include the area bounded by a line commencing at Charlottetown, Bonavista Bay, exclusive, and extending in a southwesterly direction along the boundary of District 3 to Recontre East, exclusive, and extending in an easterly direction to Grand LePierre, and then in a southerly and easterly direction around the coast to Cape Race, and then in an northeasterly direction around the coast to Cape St. Frances, and then in a northwesterly direction around the coast, around Bell Island, to the point of commencement.

CONSEIL SCHOLAIRE FRANCOPHONE

                   The school district covers the entire province.

Repeal

        3. The Boundaries of School Districts Order, Newfoundland and Labrador Regulation 79/96, is repealed.

        4. This Order comes into force on September 1, 2004 .
