June 14, 2007 RSNL1990 CHAPTER C-19 CLERK OF THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ACT Amended: 2001 cN-3.1 s2 CHAPTER C-19 AN ACT RESPECTING THE OFFICE OF CLERK OF THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Clerk of the House of Assembly Act. Oath of clerk 2. The Clerk of the House of Assembly, shall, when appointed, take the oath of office before the Speaker of the House of Assembly, who is empowered to administer the oath, as follows: "I,
, appointed to the office of Clerk of the House of Assembly of Newfoundland and RSN1970 c45 s2; 2001 cN-3.1 s2 Oath of clerk assistant 3. The clerk assistant of the House of Assembly shall, when appointed, take the oath of office before the Speaker of the House of Assembly, who is empowered to administer the oath, as follows: "I, , appointed to the office of clerk assistant to the House of Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador, swear [or affirm] that I will diligently, faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of clerk assistant to the House of Assembly, to the best of my knowledge and ability." (In the case where an oath is taken add "So help me God".). RSN1970 c45 s3; 2001 cN-3.1 s2 Duties 4. The clerk and clerk assistant of the House of Assembly shall have the custody of and be responsible for the safe-keeping of the records of the House of Assembly and all despatches, bills, petitions and documents presented to or laid on the table of the House of Assembly, and shall produce them when required by the Speaker or by his or her order on motion of a member of the House of Assembly.
