Short title

1. This Order may be cited as the Hunting Prohibition Order, 1998.

Hunting prohibited

2. Hunting, by means of a firearm is prohibited in those parts of the Island of Newfoundland as described in Schedule A.

3. Hunting, by means of a firearm, snare or trap is prohibited in those parts of the Island of Newfoundland as described in Schedule B.

4. The Hunting Prohibition Order , Consolidated Newfoundland Regulation 975/96, is repealed.

Carmanville Pond, Carmanville

All that area of the Island of Newfoundland bounded by a line beginning at the intersection of the Carmanville Highway and Route 330;

Then following Route 330 in a southeasterly direction to UTM co-ordinates 698,210 metres east and 5,471,910 metres north;

Then following a straight line in a southwesterly direction to UTM co-ordinates 697,640 metres east and 5,471,330 metres north;

Then following a straight line in a westerly direction to UTM co-ordinates 697,280 metres east and 5,471,370 metres north;

Then following a straight line in a northwesterly direction to UTM co-ordinates 696,790 metres east and 5,471,940 metres north;

Codroy Valley

Then following MacKennan Road and the western boundary of the Codroy Community Pasture in a southeasterly direction to the Grand Codroy River, and continuing in a southeasterly direction across the Grand Codroy River to Tom Doyles Road;

Then following Tom Doyles Road in a southwesterly direction to Route 406;

Then following Route 406 in a generally westerly direction to its intersection with Route 407;

Then following Route 407 in a generally westerly direction to the Gut of the Grand Codroy River;

Then crossing the Gut in a straight line and following the Sandbar Road to Millville and the intersection of Route 406;

Then following Route 406 in a generally easterly direction to the point of commencement.

Cormack

All that part of the Community of Cormack lying within 150 metres of either side of the Viking Trail, Route 430, beginning at a point 300 metres south of the Cormack Esso Service property and ending 300 metres north of George Crockers Farm and within 150 metres of either side of Veteran Drive, Route 422, from its intersection with the Viking Trail to its intersection with White River Road.

Clarenville

All that area bounded by a line commencing at the Random Island Causeway in Trinity Bay;

Then southwest 200° to a point approximately 800 metres offshore from Man Point;

Then south 164° to Bluff Point;

Then following the shoreline and including a distance of 100 metres inland from the highwater mark, to the point of commencement.

Foxtrap

That area of the Island of Newfoundland commencing at the northwest corner of Trout Pond and the Trans Canada Highway;

Then following the eastern shoreline of that pond approximately 500 metres;

Then following a straight line in a southeasterly direction to the inlet of Manuels River in Thomas Pond;

Then following the west bank of Manuels River to the first large steady upstream approximately 3,000 metres;

Then following a straight line to the southern extremity of Ocean Pond;

Then following the eastern shoreline of an adjacent pond and Hennesseys Pond to a brook leading to Jakes Pond;

Then following the eastern shoreline of Jakes Pond to its northern extremity;

Then following a straight line to the southern extremity of Little Pond;

Then following the western shoreline of that pond to the brook leading to the Trans Canada Highway;

Marshy Pond

That area known as Marshy Pond in or near the Community of Daniels Harbour and for a distance of 150 metres from the shoreline around Marshy Pond.

Massey Drive

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point, that point being the centre line of Massey Drive where Massey Drive intersects with the power transmission line 411.5 metres, more or less, east of the Trans Canada Highway;

Then following the power transmission line in a generally northwesterly direction a distance of 343.8 metres, more or less, and being 182.9 metres, more or less, north of Massey Drive;

Then north 13° 00 east a distance of 557.8 metres, more or less, to the summit of an unnamed hill;

Then south 89° 00 east a distance of 858 metres, more or less, to the summit, 251.5 metres, of a second unnamed hill;

Then south 85° 45 east a distance of 947.9 metres, more or less, to a point, that point being on the southerly side of an unnamed stream;

Then south 25° 00 east a distance of 1,301.5 metres, more or less, to a point at the highwater mark on the northeasterly side of Tippings Pond;

Then following the sinuosities of the shoreline of Tippings Pond in a generally westerly and southerly direction to a point, that point being at the highwater mark on the southern shore of Tippings Pond 274.3 metres due north of the power transmission line;

All that area of the Island of Newfoundland in the vicinity of Stephenville Crossing commencing at Vincents Head;

Then following a straight line to the western extremity of Mattis Point Pond;

Then following a woods path to Mattis Point Road in the community of Mattis Point;

Then following Mattis Point Road in a generally westerly direction to UTM co-ordinates 395,863 metres east, 5,371,022 metres north;

Then following a straight line in a generally southwesterly direction to a point on Route 490 at the intersection with Route 461 to a point directly opposite the northern boundary of Black Bank Provincial Park;

Then following to the coastline of St. Georges Bay;

Then following the coastline of St. Georges Bay in a generally northerly direction to Seal Cove Brook;

Beginning at the point of intersection of the southern bank of the river flowing out of Rushy Pond with the northern limit of the right-of-way, 30.5 metres wide, of Canadian National Railway;

Then running along the northern limit of the right-of-way south 52° 35 east 1,633.7 metres;

Then turning and running north 17° 10 east 216.4 metres, more or less, to the southern shore of Little Rushy Pond;

Then running across Little Rushy Pond north 11° 01 west 472.4 metres to a point on the northern shore of that pond;

Then turning and running north 35° west 342.9 metres, more or less, to the southern shore of Big Rushy Pond;

Then turning and running along the southern shore in a general southwesterly direction 1,798.3 metres, more or less, to the point of beginning and containing an area of 74.6 hectares.

Commencing at the intersection of the right-of-way of Gander Bay Road and the north boundary of N.L.H.C. or assigns, Carr Crescent Industrial Park;

Then by land of N.L.H.C. or assigns north 74-02 west 1,107.79 metres;

Then by land of N.L.H.C. or assigns south 105.99 metres to a point 10 metres north of the shoreline of Little Cobbs Pond;

Beginning at a point, said point being a brass plaque cemented in rock having coordinates of north 5,242,091.95 metres and east 248,365.95 metres the point being distant 2,100.9 metres as measured on a bearing of south 22° 4 17" east from Control Monument No. 82310;

Then running by Crown lands north 58° 30 13" east 1,834.34 metres;

Then north 58° 12 51" east 2,337.62 metres;

Then north 1° 17 40" west 1,131.63 metres, more or less;

Then running by the southern limit of the Argentia Access Road, 30 metres wide, extending between the Trans Canada Highway and Dunville to a point on the southerly limit having scaled coordinates of north 5,244,950 metres and east 249,308 metres;

Flatwater Pond Park

All that piece or parcel of land formerly being a portion of the Flatwater Pond Provincial Park situate and being at Flatwater in the province, abutted and bounded as follows, that is to say:

Beginning at a survey marker set on the easterly limit of Route 410, 40 metres wide, the survey marker being distant 7,937.986 metres as measured on a bearing of south 9° 53 27" west from Control Monument "Granite";

Then running by Crown land south 79° 51 59" east 16.835 metres to a survey marker set on the westerly shoreline at low water mark of the Flatwater Pond;

Then following the sinuosities of the westerly shoreline at low water mark in a general southerly direction to a point in the northerly bank of a brook flowing into the southwest end of Flatwater Pond;

Then running along the northerly and westerly bank of the brook in general westerly and southerly directions for a distance of 135 metres, more or less;

Then running by Flatwater Pond Provincial Park north 86° 59 10" west 115 metres, more or less;

Then running along the easterly limit of Route 410, 40 metres wide, north 7° 00 50" east 2,148.394 metres, more or less, to the point of beginning;

No. 121, abutted and bounded as follows, that is to say:

Beginning at a point being the northwest angle of land granted by the Crown to Walter Pritchett and registered in Volume 92, Folio 40 in the Registry of Crown Grants, that point being distant 697.559 metres as measured on a bearing of north 76° 47 50" west from Control Monument No. 7602770;

Then running by the land granted to Walter Pritchett south 34° 07 57" west 96.688, more or less;

Then running by Crown land, by land in possession of Frank Pritchett, by land in possession of Augustus Pritchett and by land in possession of Edward Pritchett north 87° 21 48" west 109.406 metres;

Then running by the land in possession of Edward Pritchett south 7° 51 42" west 23.375 metres, more or less;

All that piece or parcel of land formerly being Sops Arm Provincial Park and being an island containing an area of 9.7 hectares situate at the mouth of Main Brook, Sops Arm in the province and being part of land described in Crown Grant No. 19468 registered in Volume 98, Folio 13 in the Registry of Crown Grants, in the name of H. J. Crowe, excepting nevertheless out of that piece or parcel of land a right-of-way, 30.5 metres wide, for the highway leading to Sops Arm.

Square Pond Provincial Park (Formerly)

All that piece or parcel of land formerly being Square Pond Provincial Park situate and being in the province, abutted and bounded as follows, that is to say:

Beginning at the point of intersection of the southwesterly limit of the Trans Canada Highway, 30.5 metres wide, extending between Gambo and Gander and the southeasterly bank of Middle Brook flowing out of Square Pond;

Then running along the southwesterly limit of the highway south 39° 30 east 1,238.1 metres;

Then turning and running south 50° 35 west 544.1 metres to a point on the northeasterly shore of Square Pond;

Then running along that shore of the pond and along the southeasterly bank of Middle Brook in a general northwesterly direction for a distance of 2,518.3 metres, more or less, to the point of beginning and containing an area of 38.6 hectares.

Then running along the easterly limit of the Main Highway to a point being distant 569.382 metres as measured on a bearing of south 8° 06 24" west from the last mentioned point;
