PROFILE: Glenn joined the Public Service in 1987 after graduating from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. He began his public service career in Labrador and later returned to the island working in Harbour Grace, Bay Roberts and most recently St. John's. Glenn has held several different positions within government during his career. He has worked in several divisions including recreation and sport, historic sites and youth services. He is best known for his work within recreation and sport with the province's Canada Games program leading Team Newfoundland and Labrador in both 2003 and 2005 and servicing the program in a leadership role since 1998. Glenn has always been involved in his community and region. He has served on numerous local, regional and national boards and executives. Glenn served 14 years as councilor, deputy mayor and the last 6 years as mayor of the Town of Bay Roberts being elected twice by acclamation in 2005 and 2009. Glenn has been recognized many times for various achievements in his life receiving awards from Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, Softball Newfoundland and Labrador and Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador. He also is a member of the Order of St. John. He was inducted into the Softball Newfoundland and Labrador Hall of Fame in 2008. Glenn was elected to the House of Assembly in the recent general election of 2011. He lives in Bay Roberts with his wife and two children. |
