PROFILE: Vaughn Granter, the youngest of five children was born in Brookfield, and grew up in Pool's Island, Bonavista Bay. After graduating from Lester Pearson Memorial High in 1982, he attended Memorial University of Newfoundland. He graduated in 1987 with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education Degrees. Vaughn also holds a Master of Education Degree (1997) from St. Francis Xavier University. Vaughn began his teaching career at Stephenville Integrated High in 1987. In 1988, he moved to G. C. Rowe Junior High in Corner Brook, and since that time has been an educator at G. A. Mercer Junior High, Herdman Collegiate, and most recently Corner Brook Regional High. Vaughn has participated in extensive and varied leadership training and professional development throughout his career. In 2010, Vaughn was recognized by The Learning Partnership as one of Canada's Outstanding Principals. In recognition of this award he participated in the prestigious Executive Leadership Training Program at the University of Toronto's Joseph L. Rotman School of Management. Vaughn has been very active in promoting and supporting student and community activities for many years. On October 11, 2011, Vaughn was re-elected to the House of Assembly. Vaughn and his partner Eileen Gibbons currently reside in Humber West. |
