PROFILE:
Tony Cornect is a bilingual native of Cape St. George and is passionate about his community, culture and heritage. For many years he has been an active force in the volunteer community, serving on a variety of associations and community organizations.
Tony has accumulated a vast amount of experience, having served as both Deputy Mayor and Mayor for the Town of Cape St. George and political assistant to the MHA for the District of St. George’s - Stephenville East.
Tony, a graduate of the College of the North Atlantic, has experience in the fields of media, economic development and sales, which has afforded him with a well-rounded skill set.
Tony was first elected to the House of Assembly in the February 8, 2007 by-election and was re-elected in the October 9, 2007 general election. On October 30, 2007, he was appointed to serve as the Government Caucus Whip in the House of Assembly.
Tony represents a District ranging from the communities of Cape St. George to Mainland to Black Duck Brook to Boswarlos on the Port au Port Peninsula out to Fox Island River to the halfway point of Stephenville and all communities within.

Originaire de Cap Saint-Georges et bilingue, Tony Cornect est passionné par sa collectivité, sa culture et son patrimoine. Depuis de nombreuses années il participe activement à la communauté bénévole et siège à une variété d’associations et d’organismes communautaires.
M. Cornect a acquis une vaste expérience; il a été maire adjoint et maire de la municipalité de Cap Saint-Georges. Il a aussi été adjoint politique de la députée de la circonscription de St. George’s – Stephenville Est.
Diplômé du College of the North Atlantic, M. Cornect possède une expérience dans les domaines des médias, du développement économique et de la vente, ce qui lui a permis d’acquérir des compétences étendues.
M. Cornect a été élu pour la première fois à la Chambre d’assemblée à la faveur de l’élection partielle du 8 février 2007. Il a ensuite été réélu aux élections générales du 9 octobre 2007. Le 30 octobre 2007 il a été nommé whip du caucus de son parti à la Chambre d’assemblée.
M. Cornect représente une circonscription qui comprend toutes les collectivités de la péninsule de Port-au-Port (y compris Cap Saint-Georges, la Grand’Terre, l’Anse-à-Canards et Boswarlos) ainsi que les collectivités situées entre Fox Island River et la moitié ouest de Stephenville. |
