PROFILE:

Darryl Kelly was elected as MHA for the District of Humber Valley on October 9, 2007.

Darryl grew up in the community of Howley and completed High School in Deer Lake. With his wife Christine, they have raised three children; Wendy, Joanne, and Richard.

Following High School, Darryl attended Memorial University, where he earned Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and Masters of Education degrees.

Darryl’s teaching career of thirty years began at Howley Elementary. He also served as a school administrator at Cormack and Deer Lake.

Darryl is dedicated to giving back through his many volunteer activities. Most notably, he has been elected three times as a Councilor, and was elected Mayor of Deer Lake in 2005. He also represented municipalities in this region of the province as Western Director of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador.

Darryl’s volunteer efforts have also supported the service of other major organizations including: the Humber Valley Heritage Society; the ’99 Canada Winter Games; the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers Association; SEDLER Community Employment Corporation; and the Grand Lake Centre of Economic Development.
